The SON … “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…”Jeremiah 1:5 Jarvis Leon Brooks was born to the late Dolphus Leon Sheats and the late Virginia Brooks Sheats on August 7, 1970. Jarvis is the brother of Crystal Sheats, Victor Sheats, Cheryl Phillips and Brian Phillips.
The STUDENT … “Study to show thyself approved unto God…” II Timothy 2:15 Jarvis attended Monroe Area Comprehensive High School, where he distinguished himself as an outstanding student, football player and baseball player. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Albany State College, and the University of Georgia.
The HUSBAND … “He who finds a wife finds a good thing…”Proverbs 18:22 Jarvis married his high school sweetheart, Miss Angenette Odom in 1998. They are the proud parents of Mr. Jaelyn Cintel Brooks.
The SERVANT … “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.” Matthew 16:24 Jarvis began his Christian journey at the Appalachee Shoals Missionary Baptist Church where his grandmother, the late Pecolia “Mama Pete” Brooks, carried him and his cousins. As he recalls, they were among the first ones to arrive and the last ones to leave church. He later baptized and became a member of the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church which was led by Pastor Calvin Leon Mapp, Sr.. In 2005, he transferred membership to the Morning Star Baptist Church whose pastor was the same Pastor C.L. Mapp, Sr.. While at Morning Star, Brother Brooks served as church trustee, worked as layman and sang in the choir. In 2013, Brother Brooks joined the Mount Enon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James Livingston.
The CALLED … “Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called He also justified…”Roman 8:30 Brother Brooks heard and accepted the “CALL” from the LORD to “Go, Read and Preach My Word”, and on May 4, 2014, he received his license to preach.
The REVEREND … “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel…” Luke 4:18 Minister Brooks was ordained to preach God’s Word under the leadership of Pastor Glynn Hendricks Sr. on February 23, 2020. Under this Pastor’s leadership, Rev. Brooks attended many Pastors’ conferences and Ministers’ seminars. He was an active member of the Georgia General Missionary Baptist Convention.
The PASTOR … “And I will give you pastors according to Mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge…” Jeremiah 3:15 Reverend Jarvis L. Brooks was tapped to serve as Interim Pastor at the Mt. Enon Baptist Church for one year. On December 24, 2024, with God knowing Jarvis’ heart, He elevated him to Pastorship!
